Congratulations to Bryan & Anna! Anyone living in Wisconsin knows how unpredictable the weather can be here. The morning started off with lots of rain but it really did not matter, no one (or thing) could have taken away from all the excitement of this day. And thankfully the rain gave us a nice break in time for some gorgeous outdoor pictures at Doty Park. The reception was held at Bridgewood in Neenah and was decorated so beautifully. Congratulations to Tim & Hannah! I loved the deep purple bridesmaids dresses, such a great color for early fall. Hannah had great ideas about adding things that were similar to her parents wedding such as the same flowers in her bouquet, very creative! These too were just plain giddy to be getting married which is adorable. I do not think there was any part of the day that they weren't both grinning ear to ear. Congratulations to Steve & Nichole! Such a fun group to work with. The day did not start off the best weather wise but they never let it dampen their spirits. Thankfully the rain stopped by the afternoon and we were able to get some beautiful outdoor shots...and stay dry. Whew, that sounded a bit political. I am officially moved out of my space in downtown Kaukauna but it is a positive change. We purchased land earlier this year and will be building our hew home along with a studio space in the near future. Lots of new things happening at SMP but I will share more later. I will miss being downtown, I could step right outside my door and have endless spots for shooting. And of course being able to cross the street for a slice of HoHo's pie....will miss that a lot! More posts to come soon with updates and all the changes for 2011.

Wow, hard to believe July is here already. I have been busy, busy. Lots of posts and photos to come soon. Senior session is in full swing which is great. I love getting to know them as they are all so unique in their own ways. Quite a few of them make me feel like I was a bit lazy in high school, they are in SO many activities on top of having jobs and piles of homework. Below is a photo from a wedding I shot in June, I love that she walked right out into the aisle. I think we may have a future photographer on our hands?!?

Happy 4th of July! I will also be celebrating my friend's wedding this weekend. Adam & Catie are getting married on the beach, should be beautiful! Lots of photos to come soon.

As much as I love to photograph people I first fell in love with photographing landscapes, nature, buildings, anything really. Digital has brought photography such a long way but there are many days that I miss film! I recently pulled out my daylab to play around with polaroid transfers but of course, I don't decide to do this until 9:30 at night. So, I stayed up way too late...but it was worth every minute!

Polaroid transfer

Polaroid emulsion transfer. Basically you are using one side of the film for the transfer and the other side it lifted off for the emulsion transfer.

This little sweetie came in as a newborn and I know I say it all the time but I can't believe how much they change in that first year! She wasn't quite walking which is the best time to come in for the one year portraits because most times when they walk, then start to run pretty soon after.

I know my blog has been neglected lately...life has been busy as usual. Our house is on the market now which is bittersweet for us. It was our very first house and we love it and all the character but plan to move my business into the home in the near future so we need something bigger and closer to Kaukauna. I have also been keeping busy with some personal projects. I love creating art with my polaroid transfers and shooting landscapes. I am really trying to get out there more and do it since that it what first got me hooked on photography. Some pictures of those to come soon. I am loving this warm weather lately!!

Ideas for portraits in your home

Here are two sets of image series that a bride and groom chose for there home. They wanted it to be more of their "wedding art" than a traditional posed portrait. These below are all wrapped canvas prints...they were lucky to be married on such a colorful day!

They decided on a colored border for these so that we would not have to crop into any of the image. They chose dark brown to match the rest of their decor. There are so many great options for canvas now such as custom sizes and custom colored borders.

This series is black & white metallic prints in extra wide frames instead of using matting. Metallic has a gorgeous finish so it gets framed without glass.

Whew the holidays really flew by this year and it is somewhat hard to believe we are 8 days into the new year. Sadly I think most people were happy to say goodbye to 2009. For me it was the year I lost my grandfather. That was tough. I have been fortunate to have so few loses in my life up to this point. I do not have a memory of him without a smile on his face. He lived so simply yet he was the happiest person I have ever known. Though I had a big loss, I also had a big gain...a new sister. She has been here from Taiwan for about 6 weeks now and is such a joy. We had her singing along to Jingle Bells at Christmas, it was so cute!

I am so grateful for all of my wonderful clients and am truly looking forward to all of the wonderful things that 2010 has for my life. Last year I met so many great new people and got to know past clients even better. I have a lot of great couples getting married this year, so exciting! Last year I photographed a ton of beautiful bellies and it has been so fun to meet all of the new babies! I have been able to take on more high seniors and that has been really great. Such an exciting time in life graduating high school, I cannot believe how fast it goes once you do graduate. And of course I always loving children in here with their cute smilies, infectious giggles and hilarious personalities. Happy New Year!

New products

These both came out just this year and are a great way to display your images without a frame. They come from the lab ready to hang. The first is a stand-out. They mount the print to the front of the black board. The back side has holes for hanging. As of right now they only come in 8x10, 11x14 and 16x20.

These are float wraps. They wrap the print around a padded board. The back has a small board with holes for hanging. When it is hanging it is about 1 inch of the wall. Both come with a special coating to protect the print. The float wraps come in 8x10, 8x12, 10x10, 10x20, 11x14, 12x12, 16x16 and 16x20.

If you did not read my Thanksgiving day post, my parents were in Taiwan last week for the adoption and as promised, here are two photos of her. She was a bit jet-lagged as you can tell from the first photo. She is 2 1/2 years old and her name is Hope Min-Chia Marie. My mother's middle name is Hope, her given name was Min-Chia and all the girls in my family get Marie for a middle name. I will post more soon, she has the cutest smile and dimples! She was shy at first but a bag of M&Ms seemed to cure that pretty fast and she was okay sitting on my lap.

As promised here are a few more photos from Morgan & Jolene's wedding. They were predicting a rain/snow mix that day but it held off, the colors were at their peak and the sun came out for part of the day. This wedding had the CUTEST ring bearer ever! There is just something about a little boy in a tux and the bow-tie just added to the cuteness. If any of you are ever in need of a massage, Jolene is your girl. She works at The Massage Connection in Appleton and she is fantastic at what she does. Cannot forget about Morgan though whom I have named "groom of the year". He is become quite proud of his new title, so I hear :-) Best wishes!

Green Bay Botanical Gardens

For those of you that have never been to the gardens, I highly recommend it! I love shooting there during the summer but was pleasantly surprised that there were still a lot of great spots there in the fall too.
What more needs to be said about Hailey, just a beautiful girl inside and out. I had a blast with her, mom and her sister. A fun bunch! Also included a family portrait from the gardens. Cute little Jake has been coming in since he was a newborn. Those big brown eyes and long lashes...the girls are going to be chasing him soon enough!

Congratulations to Tim & Hannah on their upcoming wedding! We met in Madison for this session since that is where they met and started dating. Though this session took place in mid-October it was COLD and even snowed for a bit! They were such troopers and didn't even seem to mind the weather. Such a sweet couple. They are living in different cities until the wedding and you could just see how happy they were to be together again.

I know I have been quite a slacker on my blog lately and promise to make some serious post updates soon. It has been busy not only with my photography but with my family life. My parents left last friday for Taiwan to adopt my new sister, Hope. It was been a long process as anyone that has ever adopted would know. She is two and half and just adorable. I will be picking them up at the airport on saturday and cannot wait to finally meet her! I already have one sister that I have a blast with whenever we get together (and the same with my brother for that matter) so cannot wait for a new sister to make memories with. Pictures to come soon! I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving day and realizes all they things they have to be thankful for not just today but everyday.

I really do treasure getting thank you cards from my brides and grooms. This is such a huge chapter in someone's life and to get to document it is so exciting. It is hard not to get chocked up when I see a groom cry...and wonderful to laugh along with all the happy moments of the day. I came to work several days ago to find this beautiful bouquet and card waiting for me sent from the bride and groom of my October wedding. So beautiful and colorful that I have to share! Back from vacation

We had some seriously cold weather on our camping trip but it was still a blast! Sometimes you just have to make the most of what you have and so we did! Who knew a propane stove could heat a pop-up camper so well. I was convinced it was going to blow us up but here I am typing about it. Our lab Lucy has to stick her head out the window on car rides so I thought I would see what all the fuss is about and join her :-)

Congratulations to Ben & Kristen! This wedding took place in Milwuakee, such a wonderful change of scenery for me as I love to photograph in new places. The church was gorgeous and had the longest aisle I have ever seen. How great for the bride to get such a long walk down the aisle! Then off the the Veteran's Memorial for a reception overlooking the water and the skyline! So beautiful. Then after the first dance, it started to rain which is good luck on your wedding day...means you will be rich! Best wishes!

Have to give some credit to Laura for recommending me to her sister, this is the second wedding I have photographed for the L-family and they are such a fun group! Now I am just waiting on some cute L-family babies!!

The bride wore her grandmother's beautiful pearls for half of the day and jewelry from the groom's family the other half...I love family traditions. I photographed this little guy back in February as a newborn and I almost cannot believe the difference. We all know that newborns do not do a whole lot besides eating, sleeping and pooping but for 6 months old this guy was active! He could sit up, army crawl, roll around, and pull himself up. I am betting he will be walking well before the one year mark! Just a fun little guy with quite the stylish wardrobe!

This wedding took place at the very beautiful Heritage Hill in Green Bay. They had gorgeous bright, colorful flowers unlike anything I have seen recently. I do not think there was a dry eye on anyone at this wedding, the groom was a bit chocked up during the vows (love that!) and the speeches at dinner had everyone laughing and crying! Kaukauna Sidewalk Sale is Tomorrow!!

Thursday July 30th from 8-7 is the annual Kaukauna sidewalk sale on Second Street! Lots of fun, food, sales, a clown and face painting done by yours truly! The fireman come each year with a truck and the children get a "tour" and a hat. The clown makes great balloon animals too! Stop by and I will attempt my face painting magic!!! This wedding took place at The Weidner Center in Green Bay, what a great venue for a wedding. The bride had use of the dressing rooms and they said their vows right on stage. The main lobby is used for the reception and is surrounded by large windows and huge pieces of art...it is beautiful! The location was quite fitting for this very animated and playful bunch! The church was the perfect setting to keep us sheltered from this very windy day...though I think these two wouldn't have minded if a tornado hit. Beautiful March wedding and thankfully the wintery mix that was predicted never made it to Appleton. The bride had a gorgeous piece in her hair, not sure what it would be called but unlike any tiara/headband I have ever seen. She carried a colorful bouquet of tulips which seeing makes me smile at the thought of spring! Last year I remember blogging about it snowing in April...praying I will not be doing the same this year! Congratulations Craig & Susan! Your friends and family were a joy to work with!

Taking some time off

This has been a very exciting week for my as my husband was able to move back home after being stationed at Fort McCoy for a year. Unfortunately, it has also been a very sad week as my grandfather ended up in the hospital. I received the news this morning that he passed away and will be taking some time off to spend with my family. Recently we planned a tropical vacation for when my husband returned but will most likely be postponing it for a few days. I will be away from my phone and emails quite a bit during the next week to week and a half. I will do my best to catch up when I return. Thank you for your understanding.

Congratulations to Shane & Kelly! It was quite a cold day but the sun was shining and everyone was in good spirits about their brief suffering in the frigid temps. This wedding had the most beautiful New Year's Eve themed center pieces and even did a balloon drop later in the evening! A wonderful wedding to mark the end of 2008. Thanks again for having me!

What a beautiful winter wedding! The bride had a gorgeous fur shoulder wrap and the bridesmaids each had a muff to carry. Thankfully the weather was not too cold and the snow held off enough for outdoor pictures. Congratulations to Zach & Kayla... Merry Christmas to the new Mr. & Mrs.!!!
